Hi all,
I've re-installed the software on my 607 and I'm back to the screen giving me the odd message you see in the title: "Go into Energy Saving Mode" Then the screen locks itself up.
Could this be a loose connection? Maybe the car thinks the ignition is off, therefore needs to turn the screen in to energy saving mode?
Or is the battery on it's way out?
There are no other probs with the car except the parking sensors which do not work.
Any suggestions?
cheers

Does it actually go into Economy/Energy Saving mode?
It should only do that when the battery voltage falls and the BSI shuts off all the inessential circuits like the windows.
|
I don't believe so. But will double check when I'm in it tomorrow.
It doesn't always give that message, most of the time the screen simply hangs and I can no longer change CD, or track on the CD or change to telephone or radio.
The joystick is also disabled at that point and the only control I have is the volume via the knob on the radio. I can also turn it off.
It's really frustrating as it's been working no probs since I've owned it in Feb 08.
I've done nothing to it to cause a problem either - it just happened one night while driving home......

Hi tristan, you could try rebooting your BSI.
Procedure below taken from another forum - at your own risk.
Whenever a vehicle battery has to be dis-connected, switch off all equipment, interior lights etc, close the doors leaving the drivers window open.
Switch off the ignition and remove the key and any DIAG equipment.
Wait a full 3 minutes before disconnecting the battery.
The BSi must be allowed to go to SLEEP ie into "power save mode". Do not operate any equipment on the vehicle during this time. Remember, even opening the bonnet will wake the BSi on a vehicle fitted with alarm.
If the battery is under the bonnet, open the bonnet first and leave it up. 807 batteries can be dis-connected through the drivers window, remove floor cover first.
ALWAYS disconnect any DIAG equipment and do not operate any plips from other vehicles during the 3 minute waiting period.
PROCEDURE FOR BATTERY RECONNECTION
Unless otherwise instructed by Peugeot or Product Service, you must always carry out the following procedure, often referred to as a "soft re-boot", to minimise the possibility of the BSi corrupting its own software when reconnecting the vehicles battery supply.
Ensure the procedure for battery disconnection has been adhered to and importantly all BSi functions were switched off with the drivers window left down
NOTE: Upon reconnection, if any vehicle function controlled by the BSi i.e . interior light is switched on,the internal operation of the BSi has the potential to spike or corrupt its configuration and software program......
Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.).
Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.
Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.
Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.
Remove key open & close door test central locking system.
Start the engine and complete the system's check.
Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many BSI related items.
Hope this helps

Crikey, that sounds daunting !!
Only problem is that my drivers side window doesn't work and is being held up with some wood at the moment !!
Will that matter? Is the fact that the window is down, mean that it's part of the procedure or that it's for when you reach through the window to the ignition etc?
If it doesn't matter, I can lower the window by taking the wood away temoraraly while doing this procedure.
Cheers

It sounds more complicated than it is.
The important thing is not to activate any of the electrical circuits out of sequence and make sure no-one is playing with plips (key remotes) or remote controls nearby that the vehicle might pick up.
Window down is purely so you can reach through and turn the lights on and ignition in sequence.
your window not working - is it because the regulator is bust or is it a mysterious failure (BSI related)

Great stuff.
No the window broke about 2 months ago. I was winding it up and heard a big crack and something falling inside the door. The glass was securely up. When I stopped, I tried the window and it went down, but not up.
The electrics are working perfectly on it. From what I can see, it looks like the cable has jammed between the mechanism and the metal of the door. When I try to operate the window it does try to wind, but the mechanism stops itself as it thinks there's an appendage there! Lol.
Just got to get the time to drill the rivets holding it in out and get it re-conditioned.
Back to the screen problem though - another suggestion I've had is to get the software re-installed from PSA diag 2000 ? A chap I know had this done and it fixed his parking sensors too.
When I had my sensors plugged in to the diag, it showed no fault on them, but it thought that objects right in front of them were about 100 yards away !! So it seems that they have become un-calibrated somehow.
Maybe this reset will sort out both probs. (screen hang and parking sensors)
Thanks again

Well, I tried that reset procedure, but no joy. It's still the same.
It doesn't really give that message very much. Usually it just hangs or sometimes the screen resets itself about 5 times (goes on and off) while displaying 1st Jan 2000 on a dimly lit screen.
Then the last thing is shows is "Reprogramming Sequence" like when you do a software update and then after that, some times shows an error screen:
"error code: 0x0000555" or something like that. Then it goes off.
This isn't as a result of the procedure BTW, it did this before the procedure too.
Totally stumped. Maybe the ECU download will sort something out next week... ??

Well, the specialist couldn't do an ECU download - I don't think they really knew what I wanted!
The screen has behanved itself for a few days now - but that's not to say it's solved!

After a week of working I've had a week of it not working !!
Turning itself off, then on, then off. Then staying on for 1 minute, then locking the screen up. Sometimes instead of locking up it turns itself off completed until the car is restarted. Then the cycle starts again.
It's a fricking nightmare to be honest.
Has anyone got any ideas on this??
