Hi

My Astra (Hatch) has annoying "wind whistling" noise that comes from the back somewhere when you get to speeds above 40mph or so, its really annoying I cant see any obvoise gaps in the doors/rubber surrounds and all the windows are fully up, however when washing the car a slight dribble does sometimes (not all the time) come through the rear left handside door window but its fully wound up (manual not elec)

Is this common, or does anyone have any ideas or had the same problem its more annoying more than anything - if you turn up the radio you cant hear it but sometimes i like to drive without the radio on and all i hear is this whistling coming from the back.

Thanks in advance

My Dad has same model and his Vauxhall dealer suggested it is the roof aerial whipping / whistling in the wind and offered to fit one of the shorter types. I guess you could unscrew it temporarily & drive at speed to check?

Hi Thanks for your reply, ill try it and post back with the results

However not to doubt your advice but just so i can gain a better understanding would the aerial thats outside cause a noise that can be heard inside the car when all windows etc are closed

Many Thanks

Have you checked inside the grooved area of the window rubbers to make sure nothing is preventing the window from fully closing?

it's attached to the roof so it can cause enough vibration to use the bodyshell as a sounding board?
