1995 1.5TD Timing Belt Change - killie
Hi
Decided to change the T.belt on My Corsa 1.5TD
it didn't go very well I managed to get the Pump pulley to jump a tooth or two when turning the Crank. So it wasn't running to well. hard to start and when it did running very rough indeed.
So took the Belt back off made sure everything was lined up correctly. Put a couple of lock Bolts in to the Cam & Pump pulleys. Used Drill Bits the first time, think thats why the Pulley jumped.
Started first time running but still a little lumpy on tick over never did that before I changed the Belt.
So I'm wondering if the Timing is still a fraction out maybe Half a Tooth ?
Would it be possible to slacken the pump off and move it a fraction to bring the timing in to line ? or better to try and refit the belt again ?
Thanks for any advice
Regards

1995 1.5TD Timing Belt Change - jc26
Hi
As per the Autodata cambelt book the pump timing may need checked seperately after the belt has been fitted, this is done by connecting a dial-test indicator to the pump and using it to time the firing order and also show if the pump itself needs to be rotated. This is the same procedure for the 1.5D engine and the 1.7TD fitted to the Astra and Cavalier. The Haynes diesel engine service guide has all the procedures used step-by-step.

Try taking the belt off and lining everything up as accurate as you can, notches and marks etc and refit the belt. If it still idles badly try the Haynes book procedure if you can.

Hope this helps! :)

If not would a Garage have one

Hi
Try Halfords or a local motor factors/parts shop, you should be able to get one there. A garage should have one and should also be able to help you fix the problem.

I've had an Astra and Nova with these Isuzu engines and as you probably also know they are pretty bullet-proof! So it should be something simple to fix.

Good luck!

A DTI pump timing set is very expensive for once-only use; far better and cheaper to get a diesel specialist to set it up.
