How important is the brand of fuel? - The_Hud
My trusty Micra is not the coolest wheels, but the fuel economy is up there with the best diesels. I saw this clip on YouTube today and it got thinking about making my fuel go further (great CGI btw!):

Any thoughts out there about whether fuel quality changes across the brands? Which ones are recommended??

If it's practicable to do so, try different brands and see for yourself. I think it would be difficult for anyone to guess what might be the effect on your particular car.

The cars at the back of that clip will need new airfilters very quickly, I reckon :)

You'd have to do a good 2,000 miles on each fuel to get any reasonable data.

Moreover you would have NOT to know what sort of fuel the car was filled with, if the data were to have any value.

Best bet? Buy the cheapest.

1.You should only use branded fuels, especially Shell or BP in your car. They have detergents which clean the fuel system, so you get better MPG. The cheapos don't.

2.You should use the cheapest fuel in your car, they are all the same.
