OK, I've had my Citroen C8 for 5 months now and overall I'm really pleased.
There are a few niggles, such as the storage compartments - although there are a multitude of them, they are all really odd shapes and can't fit anything regular in them (CD's for instance!)
But, my clever (I had other words at the time) son decided it would be fun to fiddle with the built in sunblind on the Sliding door. We didn't realise it had slipped off the clip at the top of the window until we opened the door from the outside.
There was a noisy ripping sound as the door slid back and the sunblind fabric was completely ripped by the opening door as the top of the blind caught in the rear of the car.
I was surprisingly calm about it (having kids seems to develop the count to 10 management skills).
So, I thought to myself - well Sunblind £10 from Mothercare - fitted on in the car maybe £50
I called Citroen......wait for it......£150 inc VAT plus fitting (Labour charge = £40).
I almost fell off my seat. I think I'm going to call Dom and not get Done!
Anyone else had experience with ripoff parts for their cars?

Not familiar with the C8 but is this one?

Bit cheaper then £150.

It appears that link doesn't go straight to it, but if you use the filter functions at the top you will find it, reckons £80 to fit at my local dealers. Still damned expensive for a sunblind though.

Yup - my Mitsubishi has a one very short front wiper (the other being normal) as well as a strange rear wiper. The single blade cost me £35.

The single blade cost me £35.
Could you just replace the rubber bit? You can usually get a pair for £1.

My Volvo S80 - a 2001 car - not especially rare or expensive - needed a new exhaust about 18 months ago. That was main dealer only - the part hadn't been factored out yet. Thick side of £500, as I recall, and not for the CAT either!

Vauxhall wanted £430 +VAT + fitting for an alternator for a CDTI 150. of course it was not available anywhere else even at Lucas who are agents for the manufacturer

The worst offenders are hoses for the cooling or intake systems. They're almost always dealer only, and often such a specific shape that you'd never find anything suitable elsewhere.
I've known people pay over £100 for hoses of 2-3 ft in length before.
