1999 1.8 16v Suspension - skulls
Hi i have T reg 1999 xantia i recently removed the steering rack and separated the rack to change the gaitors ( i know long way round ) since the rack is back on and the car is running the suspension on the front was rising to the highest position and then dropping to normal right height, it kept doing this. I took it to citreon they found nothing wrong with the car the height correctors nothing, they told me the lhm fluid was dirty and there is grit in the system so i bought a lhm flush, i managed to get 4 litres of flush in the car, the suspension has stopped bouncing but i have a problem when your driving and the steering is turned to a lock the car jacks up to highest position and then drops when you straigten the steering. The rear end is perfect nothing wrong on the back, i have undone all the metal pipes while engine running and they seem to be unblocked and the flush oil is coming through ok. As you can tell i am a little lost on this by now and citreon just say its the oil that need replacing, when i separated the rack i pushed all the dirty oil back in the system but even with this flush there is no improvement. can any one help

Xantias do do that. It'd been posted on many forums.

Have you purged the air from the hydraulics by releasing the bolt from the pressure regulator by 1 turn only after adjusting the height up and down about half a dozen times?

When you added the flush did you remove the LHM tank and clean it and the filters in Petrol?

The French Car Forum is a great place for such info.

Just a thought did you use proper Total LHM flush - HYDRAURINCAGE?

Also I can take over 1000 miles to clean the system.

Good luck with it.

Hi steve yea i released the air from the system and let the suspension go up and down at least 8 times, before i put the flush in i cleaned the tank and cleaned the filters what i never said before i removed the lower suspension arm and the bush separated from the arm, the bolt that holds the arm on also clamps the anti roll bar bush, i,ve had citreon check worrying that i moved the height control valve but everything is ok. When the car jacks up when the steering is on a lock it screeches the tyres and the suspensions is clearly on its hardest setting as it bounces round the bend, i know what you mean by when you say xantias do that, as you said they do adjust the ride height when going round bends. All the pipes have fluid coming out at high pressure but since i,ve put the flush in the suspension seems to be more responsive going up and down and it has stopped bouncing on its own ( normal ride height ). i know this flush is good and may take a while to work but i'am not sure its just dirty oil that causing my problems. Yes it is total hydrocage flush i bought, any more thoughts would be really gratefull
cheers matt

Hi, my problem with the suspension bouncing was that my tracking was completely out.
