Hi there, first post here.

My turbo seems to hiss very loud when i reach 3rd gear (like a noisy hairdrier!) and onwards and it seems to pull away very slowly, its not as noisy in 1st and 2nd gear and seems to pull away normally in these gears. It sounds like the turbo is working fine but there must be a major leak somewhere but as this is my first turbo diesel, and i have only had the car 2 weeks, i havent got a clue where to look or what to look for under the bonnet! (Dont even know where the turbo is!) Please can somebody explain to me what to look for and where to look as i have read most posts about turbo problems on all sorts of forums but im lost when it comes to measuring resistance of sensors etc like it suggests in other posts! Also, i only seem to get around 40 MPG, even on the motorway. Could the turbo fault be the cause to me using more fuel as the official figures say i should achieve in excess of 50?

My only other gripe with the car is the display panel that sits on the dash in the centre of the car. I believe this is the display that shows any faults / trip meter / clock etc? The problem is that it doesn`t work. Is there a fuse for this somewhere else other than the internal fusebox as all the fuses seem to be fine? If not, would i need a new display unit or could it be a wiring fault as it has had a new radio fit by the previous owner (was wondering if it was in any way linked to the wiring of the factory fit radio?)

I had one of these info displays replaced under warranty and it would have been £110. The display must be connected to the radio/ICE system in some way as it displays what radio channel you are on, the track number of the CD you are playing, the audio volume control and the RDS and TA functions, among others

Thanks A.S, i`ll check out the wiring behind the radio in the morning. Didn`t want to mess about with the stereo till i had a bit more info!
Don`t suppose you have any ideas on the turbo fault do ya? Driving me mad all this hissing i can hear whilst driving down the motorway!
