75000 mile service will be due in the next couple of months. Thing is, Honda want £550 for this one because gearbox oil and sparkplugs will be changed(1st time). Usually, the expensive service costs between £250-300. Across the board, this particular service for MK6 Civic's is the mega expensive one.
Any Independent Specialists out there who reckon that they can offer their services at a cheaper rate, then please reply. Brand loyalty only goes so far!!

Is that it then - nobody else?? There are several Honda dealers within 40 miles of where i live, but i can't believe that there aren't any independents with knowledge of manual gearbox oil changes. How difficult can it be?

Phone around, dealer prices can vary and are flexible, £500 for a service on a 5 year old car is pushing it a bit. Any decent garage should be able to do it, just ask them to use OEM parts. Does it specify an oil change for the 'box in the manual I wonder?

Try HJ's Good Garage guide.

I didn't want to ask again for a more specific location....south of England is a rather large area.

The reason its sooo expensive is it takes ages to change the box oil and yes this must be done at the correct interval, also if you go to a independant make sure they use Honda gearbox oil as its a special box oil for the type r that only Honda supply.

bristol, basingstoke or basildon?

How can you expect sensible responses with such a lax definition of the location?

you'd probably do better in 'discussion' as well.
