Thinking of getting one for the misses, low mileage as are most of them but have never driven or known anywone who owns one. All I have in my mind is that older Renault autos can be rather tragic - anyone with direct experience?

We had a R5 automatic - 1.4. Not a very good car at all, ISTR, and we PXd it for a Golf Mk2 auto that was a bit better, but not by far. I can't see the R5 surviving anything more than a parking bump without folding up - rust got to them pretty fast.

£2,000 to spare - why not buy a 94 R5 Campus with just 24k? Now that is funny!

Haha, no chance, but theres one on Ebay with 47K for considerably less.

That R5 Campus is too expensive, but look at the acres of room inside. Far better than anything new today.
