96 - Replacing gearbox. What's the 4 pin plug for? - robroxnz
I'm in the middle of changing the gearbox on my fiesta as the old one had alot of miles up on it and was graunching and popping out of gear. I bought a low milage gearbox , but now I have my own gearbox out next to it I notice that looking at the front of the gearbox from my car, there is a large 4 pin plug there that the replacement box hasn't, it just has a blanking plate.
Does any one know what this plug is for, and is in possible to swap in on to the other box and how?

Please help, Rob.

Reversing light switch?

Yeah it is the reverse light, but it also looks like it's attached to the selecter shaft, and the plug lead goes to the ECU, I'm just worried that does more than just a reverse ligtht

The other pair of contacts are the neutral switch for the ECU.

Does it need the neutral switch to run? or can I just use a gearbox without that set up?
