Intermittent loss of sound from stereo & satnav - Forrest
I have a 5 series E39 with factory fitted sat/nav and tv and wondered if anyone has experienced intermittent sound loss with a similar system. The sound goes completely from all sources, ie radio, cd, tv or whatever you happen to be enjoying ! Sometimes turning the stereo off and back on again works - but not always. I have had the amp checked (no probs) and someone else has said i need to replace the radio control unit - but at a cost of £900 am hoping to find an alternative solution. Any suggestions would be much appreciated because as much as I love the noise of the V8 - no sounds in the car is depressing me.........

Thanks

You could try this guy.

www.caraudiorepairs.co.uk/makes.html

I spoke to him on the phone and he claims to be able to fix this a lot cheaper than a new unit. I have not used him but am considering it as a second hand unit might fail in the same way very quickly.

If I decide to use him I'll post here.

Hi - thanks for advice. Went to see these people and have had sound problem sorted - fantastic, so far anyway ! Only had it done last week, but will keep posted. Thanks again. PS. I was told he could only fix early model of that particular audio module, mine was year 2000
