04 1.4 auto, service interval display - maltrap
my wife's 1.4 polo automatic 04 has started pinging every time the ignition is turned on. we've had the car for 6 months & i do all the servicing myself when it pings a spanner symbol appears next the trip mileage display i've tried resetting it manually following the owners manual to no avail it says i should go to a main agent! (over my dead body) does anyone know any tricks of the trade etc? thanks in anticipation.

This works for a golf: hold button on the right, then ignition on, then release button, turn button on left to the right, ignition off.

on this polo there's only one button push it in to reset the trip or turn it to the right or left to change clock.

That's the one; the secret is holding it in before turning on the key - then follow the instructions above.

Auto versions can be a pain; you may still need a scanner to reset this one.
