Friend's Nissan Primera has terrible front wheel wobble at motorway speed. I put it down to unbalanced wheels, so made sure she put new tyres on the front, but wheels are still wobbling.
So, having eliminated poorly balanced wheels, what else could be causing the problem? It's not warped brake discs because it's not affected by braking. I'm thinking along the lines of suspension/steering components, if anyone's got any suggestions?
Thanks,
Greg.

you could try putting the front wheels on the back, the back ones on the front and see if that makes any difference.
If it doesn't then it's not the wheels or tyres so 'something else'.
If it does then it must be a wheel or tyre issue.

When it had new tyres, I got the garage to rotate the wheels, and the wobble's exactly the same. I'm 99% sure it's something warped in the front suspension, but haven't got a clue what the setup is on these cars, or if there's any known weak point.

If was suspension related, I would expect the degree of wobble to vary with road surface.
A wheel bearing check might be an idea as well as checking the state of the shocks and also check the actual wheel is not damaged.
Scuffing (wheels out of alignment) can set up vibrations at speed as well, but this should feel different when new rubber is put on if this is cause.
Normally looseness in suspension will often give clunks over lumps, bumps and holes.
Saying that I had a wobble on old tyres, took it in for new tyres at same fitter who balanced the old tyres and still had a wobble - went to another fitter who said orginal fitter's machine must have been dodgy - new fitter rebalanced the new tyres and problem went away.
So would try an alignment check and re balance somewhere else first if you are not getting any funny clunks or groans from the front wheels when driving.

how do you know its front wheel wibble
does the steering wheel shimmy

Yes the steering wheel wobbles like a goodun! I barely got it up to motorway speed when I took it for a spin, but I wasn't impressed with the handling even at low speed, and the P11 Primera is meant to be one of the best handling large hatchbacks of its time. Didn't notice any clonks coming from the suspension, and the wheel bearings aren't whirring either. I'll tell her to get the wheels rebalanced at the local Kwik-fit, because their machine seems to work accurately - it sorted my Almera's wobble out.

my inclination would be a buckled rim then,as said above swap fronts to back

Does the wheel fit snugly on the hub? Many years ago I had a set of alloy wheels that didn't have hub rings and they caused wheel vibration above 65.

Sorry, should've gone into a bit more detail in original post...
When the new tyres were fitted, it was the rears that were worn out. I asked the fitter to put the new ones on the front, and move the existing half-worn fronts to the rear. This eliminated the balancing and wheel warping possibilities, as there was no difference as a result of the new tyres or rotated wheels. Tracking was checked, it was fine too.
They're the original 15" steel wheels so should fit snugly. Can't think of anything myself, other than rebalancing the wheels (which I very much doubt would make a jot of difference). Don't know how the car was previously treated - suffice it to say many Primeras have elderly owners, so the NSF wheel might have been bashed off many a curb in the past.

If they did not wobble before then its not suspension get them rebalanced properly.
