Fuel leak - general info on pipes etc. - tyre tread
Just acquired a Charade GTti and afetr one week it proceeded to deposit most of its fuel tank contents onto my driveway over a period of a few days.

I have tracked the leak to a joint between a metal (corroded) pipe and a rubber pipe. Needless to say its in a difficukt to reach spot.

I need to buy some rubber and metal pipe and I don't want to appear a complete numpty so I did some research (on t'internet) and there seems to be several sizes and types:

6mm, 8mm, copper, kunifer and nitrile, plus different types of connectors for metal pipes.

Are there any MOT regs per fuel pipes or can I patch this up?

so long as it is safe and doesnt leak you wont have mot problems
however
if you get a drop in your eye while on your back it will blind you
the fumes while on your back under a car creap up without you realising it and they will kill you
so its not the pipe its the location thats the real problem
get car up on axle stands/ramps get yourself some goggles and make sure someone is keeping a constant eye on you for the duration (seriously ,many moons ago i nearly died under a car up the drive trying to put some petro patch round a leaking pipe)

or get a garage to replace the pipe?
