97(P) 1.4RT Battery Drain - Gregarious
Hi my mum owns the above-mentioned Clio. The issue is, if the car is left standing for more than 4 days the battery is completely flat! She has had several new batteries and several people look at it saying things like ?it doesn?t make any sense!? There is nothing obvious like an interior light being left on. Has anybody heard of this or similar problem with the old Clio 1? Could it be the central locking? Some kind of solenoid drain? Any offers would be most welcome! Cheers

Who are these people? Competent auto electricians or family friends without multimeters.

Could be the radio if it is fitted with the original Renault/Philips unit.Try leaving it disconnected.hth

Has anyone actually measured the drain? Is it permanent?

Have a look in the glove box to see if there is an ignition stye looking key switch. some early clios had an imobilizer factory fitted and it had to be switched on when the car was parked otherwise the battery would go flat after 4-5 days. I think it used to be hidden in the far right hand corner of the glove box.
