Hyundai Getz
wifes car goes in for 2 year service at Main dealer 15k on clock. She's been moaning the clutch has been sticking.(i havent looked at it) Get car back:
£246 bill : 2 yr service includes oil,plugs,brake fluid,air filter ...ouch
Oil has not been changed..still brown and exactly how it was when i checked it last week.Ive even saved some on some kitchen tissue
brake fluid: wow they filled it to the 'brim' (to the lid!! ) way above the max mark...something tells me they didnt change it..just topped it per chance?
Plugs: difficult: fine white powder deposit but look clean...would 8 miles give fine white powder/residue ?
Air filter: They got that right
Clutch: Still sticking. Ring them up..'we re-adjusted the clutch and cant comment on the rest until you bring it back in.'
I take out drivers mat....clutch doesnt stick..mat worn completely top left.....

I have heard several incidents with Getz clutch. Unfortunately they don't cover it under warranty.
Looks like Hyundai just became too complacent lately.

Considering they operate a 5 yr warranty, maybe worth mentioning this to head office/customer care.
If you have an engine failure and you show it has all the service stamps then the dealer in question is potentaily costing the company extra money in claims.
Maybe just a matter of time until they decide to form one brand rather than two (hyandai and Kia) - Kiadai perhaps? (doesnt sound too good does it?)...

Well all I can say is that our experience of our two dealers, in Northampton and Milton Keynes is of a very superior aftersales service who go the extra mile to both service your car and problem solve, as was the case with the ABS pump on our Coupe V6.
I would imagine, that kind of attitude is most likely down to the management - having worked in a service department for a year, I can tell you, attitude to work stems from the top down, usually via the workshop manager.
In this case, id say its down to the individual dealer and id have a quiet call to Hyundai head office who may want to hear about it.
Personally, if the oil hansnt been changed, id get it changed.

No. You should be able to tell if they're new, though - the gold (cadmium) plating on the metal body will be shiny, but it dulls quite quickly in use.
If you're being charged for items not supplied (or as stated on invoice) you can jump on them from a great height. I'd start with Trading Standards...

I suppose you have to give them a chance to rectify matters, but they need to be very quick (and humble) about it. They are guilty of fraud and deception and have broken all manner of trading regulations. I don't suppose they changed the oil filter either.

Make an appointment with your local trading standards.
Follow it up with a letter to your trading standards contact and CC Hyundai UK HQ, Hyundai HQ in South Korea and Watchdog BBC (i know its an extra cost posting to SK, but it will make UK HQ get its act together - I wouldnt bother posting to South Korea, just letting the UK office think SK has been sent a copy will cause panick).
Let Hyundai speak to the dealership - try and use the car as little as possible.
Hyundai had a problem with poor dealership when I was there, I remember the garage I worked in - I couldnt believe how lazy the mechanics where and the poor attitude.
I helped turn it around, but Hyundai has a real problem with its dealerships, the north west has lots of rubbish Hyundai dealers. (Hyundai wanted to get rid of a few of its north-west dealers but couldnt find many replacements).
The getz is a cracking car, but it does need the service book to be strictly followed if it is to last beyond 150,000 miles.

Theres 2 yundi dealers within 10 miles of me one is so incompetant its frightening the other is superb and are really helpful.
Im talking spares dept rather than repairs but to me the rot starts at the top.
Do what you have to do OP because if you pay for something then its surely fraud not to receive it whether its a light bulb or a 3 part clutch.

My 52 Sante Fe had the 5 year warranty but the further you went along the time line the less things were covered. The clutch was only covered for 2 years. I had mine replaced but to be fair I had cooked it and it started to shudder. There were no problems getting the work done. I believe there had been some flywheel issues with the earlier models.
Likewiswe the wheels were replaced for corrosion. Again no problems.

Interesting thought, but I think he's entitled to be annoyed! (Although not to swear at us, perhaps.)
I must say it speaks volumes for the cars that they can be 'serviced' so casually and still perform reliably...

Excuse me for being pedantic, but I think you'll find that cadmium has for a long time been considered too poisonous to be used as a plating.

You may be right, but I think passivating it makes it safe to handle. That process (commonly known as 'cad and pass') is still used for the chassis members of cabinets used to house electrical/electronic equipment. It has a distinctive gold colour, but since zinc plating can also now be had in gold (e.g. chipboard screws) that may be preferred nowadays. I'm not an authority!
