Car buying dilemma - LinuxGeek
I really could do with some advice on buying a car. At the moment I'm doing 80 miles round trip to my fulltime job, mainly driving up and down on M4 and I've got a pizza delivery job as a part-time and I drive around 200 miles per week there too. So I want a car that would be best for both worlds. What would you suggest? I want a car that's very reliable and cheap to run. My spending limit is £1500. Thanks

I would love Mazda 323 TD but its out of my budget! I think it'll be an ideal car for motorway and for local driving! I'm still searching for one just in case if I get something within my budget, won't mind 626 but I don't think it'll be a wise option for pizza delivery due to its size. Golf/Polo/Ibiza diesel but I'm worried that Polo/Ibiza probably won't be very comfy on motorway.
Whatever car, its got to be diesel!

My heart says give Peugeot diesel another try but my mind tells me not to because I had tough time with Peugeot 306 and then 106 I've owned in the past! What's the best possible advise you could give when buying a Peugeot diesel car?

Yes look deep into the eyes of the seller

After doing a bit of research on autotrader, I should be able to pick up more or less the same Peugeot 306 or Vauxhall Astra (98 onwards) of the same age. Which one would be a better option and would be more reliable and cheaper to run?

It's hard to say at 1500 quid because it will be old & high miles, so something big could go wrong with either, although I'd say the astra is probably more sensible as the Pug is more likely to have been driven hard due to the 306's renowned handling.
