Buying an SUV - two or four-wheel drive?
I want to buy a new SUV to cope with rural roads and winter conditions. Am I right in thinking that a four-wheel drive car will be best, or is the technology in the two-wheel versions enough for icy/snowy conditions?

I can tell you that 2WDs with 'grip control' or 'traction plus' are more effective than 4WDs. These systems involve an electronically controlled diff and Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons all weather tyres.
2WD SUVs without a limited slip diff and on summer tyres are generally hopeless.
Worse than that, if you get stuck in an SUV, it's really embarrassing.
