Renault Scenic Petrol loss of electrics - snowytoo

I serviced my 1.6 petrol Scenic on Sunday in readieness for my MOT on Monday. Car performed perfectly before and up until tonight on way home. It hesitated a few times on the way home from the office. It has been starting badly for a week or so (TDC Sensor prob. needs cleaning again) but otherwise fine. Took car out after tea and started jerking - suspected Pencil Coil but then noticed that my Petrol warning light came on when it cut out and took some time to realise the needles on my dials were also resetting and when dark my lights turned off too. It looks like the engine is just cutting out and the electrics resetting everything. Also noticed that in heavy rain from this afternoon that I have my annual summer leaking through the elctric sunroom switch console. Has anyone had similar prob ?. Do peopel think it could be water ingress shorting something out (water seems to be coming out of plastic console housing only). Have done usual checks as to battery cables/battery connections/alternator connections etc and they also seem fine. Am flummoxed !!!!
