does it have a plastic ring round the ignition barrel? to read the key code?
if yes then you either buy a s/h ecu plus this plastic ring plus the lock set from a breaker £100 worth or
tow the car to the dealer with proof that it is yours ,they will get the correct codes from vaux uk make you a key then code the key to the car
i do not know of any other way sorry
you cannot hot wire it in the old sense
Astra Immobiliser 1996 ls 1.4 - smartcar
it has no ignition what so ever there just wires as its stolen and recovered
i was told that if i got a new ignition from a scrap yard from a car of the same model i would be able to use that with the other cars key
any idea if this will work right?

p.s. it can be hotwired i think due to it actually being stolen before lol not a clue how they did it though, managed to get it to run but it just dies after 3 seconds.. made another thread about this too

thanks for replys

A 96 astra may well not have actually been stolen - the insurance could have written it off as the cost of fixing the twoc *attempt* was too high.

As you may be about to discover.

If you have the v5 or can get a duplicate try and contact the last owner - if they have a key (with the chip) then you can probably just replace the pick up coil and barrel from a breaker.

How do you bypass the immobiliser on an Astra 1996 LS 1.4?

If you want anyone to give you that information, then I suggest you either make your email address public in your account settings or post it in your next reply to this thread so that anyone in the know can contact you privately.

For obvious reasons this sort of info shouldn't be made common knowledge on a public forum - and would see my scissors if posted here.

as as has bin sed
the car will have been broken into ,the nice children will have ripped all the wires down including the little ones for the key reading bit ,but they would have been unable to start the car, this will be proved by the large dent in either the wing or the door as they ran off back to mummies house.
your answer is in my post above ,as i said for the new ecu to work you must get the appropiate key reader from around the ignition barrel as ifr you dont i can assure you the car will not start make sure you get the keys as well
when did i last sort one of these? well it was 2 weeks ago
salvage yards/insurance assesers aint daft they have done the figures before they dun you,£100 job done, open your wallet :-)
