Fiat Punto 1.3 Multijet Diesell 2004
Problem Description:-
Car starts normally from both cold and hot. Idle is satisfactory. Problem is manifest when accelerating from below 3000rpm, no ?power? is present, noticeable when on hills, pulling away etc. Subjectively worse when cold, Above 3000rpm, turbo cuts in and for the next 500rpm, a surge in power is present, then engine power as expected. This car has 20k miles and is a rebuild from a heavy front end accident.
Work to date:-
EGR pipe work removed and cleaned, breather was heavily fouled with oily sludge.
EGR actuator removed and checked for contamination.
ECU shows no faults on Fiat tester and the Launch X341.
MAP sensor checked as ok by substitution
With MAF sensor disconnected, test drive revealed no change in performance
New Fiat MAF sensor fitted, no improvement
EGR actuator checked for resistance, approx 8Ω, 9V present with ignition ON, 12V present with engine running.
EGR actuator disconnected and test driven, no change.
EGR actuator fed directly from battery, clicks could be heard from solenoid
Help please!

Under what circumstances has this manifested itself. was it there one day then gone the next? Was is there before the crash repair and not afterwards? has it disapeared slowly?

Don't know, car was purchased as a cat D and repaired so previous history is unknown.

Well how much power are you expecting? Its a bit of a slug at low revs naturally.

worth a check, is the air intake ok since front end rebuild? i had a car that had a new front panel fitted & where the air intake mounted through the panel the panel had no cut out hole so the turbo couldn't get any air! it drove but had no power at all! check for air intake pipe collaspe or debris inside!
