old chap and the road tax fine - Alex
Hear about the 70 odd year old, done pushing £400 for 10 un-taxed minutes on the road.

When oh when will the police put as much effort into catching proper criminals?

About time they scraped road tax anyway. The only fair system is to tax actual usage of both raod and fuel? The more you use the more you pay.

Put road tax on fuel please Gordon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not blame the Police for they do not PROSECUTE Excise Offences.
This decision is made by DVLA.
But I agree on you sentiments on that reported, the letter of the law imposed as against the spirit.
But there again we have only one side of the story....

He was probably uninsured as well, in which case if the handbrake had slipped and the car rolled into a pram ............
Re: old chap and the road tax fine - Alwyn
Road tax on fuel? I believe I was told they do that in Spain. Anyone confirm?
Re: old chap and the road tax fine - Brian
Gordon Brown has proved himself to be incapable of radical thought, his only attribute being a genius at dreaming up new taxes.
Most of his measures have been tinkering around the margins. Take the changes in tax & NIC this month, I pay £6 more NIC and ££2 less tax, a net difference of minus £4, or one fifth of a percent change on net salary. For all the effort of issuing millions of new code tables, employers packs, employers time in re-programming computers etc. it really is not worth it.
