Absolutely; petrol prices have always risen at the start of the motoring season [even if oil prices are static or falling] and they fall sharply in about October [even last year when oil prices remained high.]
They charge what they can get away with.

Can't wait, for this, then... tootling off over the countryside, on our open roads, just for the day trip, then maybe a pleasent weekend away, to some forgotten idylic haven, or maybe the seasdie.
Nothing beats the motoring season!! ;-))

In fact around here we tend to use less of our vehicles this time of the year !

>>Don't forget the Petrol Stations are our for profit.>>
The actual profit margin is comparatively small, hence the closing down of so many petrol stations in recent years - it's a certain G Brown who is always on a winner...:-(

Garages make their money on pies and porn - the fuel is high volume low profit sideline!
|
So if the fuel goes up 'at the start of the motoring season' ie spring through to the autumn, and then fuel goes up in winter due to 'increased demand for domestic heating', when does it have chance to come down???

Except we don't buy any oil from Iran.
|
but world prices reflect problems in a major producer whoever they or don't supply.
|
In New York, crude oil for May delivery fell 10 cents to close at $64.28 a barrel yesterday.
Prices in New York dropped yesterday as 15 British sailors and marines that had been held in Iran were released.
``With geopolitical concerns easing, risk premium in oil prices may be extracted further in the near term,'' said Makoto Takeda, an energy analyst at Bansei Securities Co. in Tokyo.
Crude oil may fall next week after Iran's release of the British navy personnel eased concern that shipments from the Persian Gulf will be disrupted, a Bloomberg survey showed.
Above from Bloomberg, seems they agree with my view (or t'other way about) it also mentions the "start of the driving season" and low petrolium stocks worldwide. So where exactly do you expect prices to go ?
Chap in the village has just refurbished his garage, talkin gto him this afternoon he told me that petrol accounts for only 2.5% or less of his profit margin, everything else comes from the shop.

Oh and if it becomes a shooting war in the Gulf expect it to go up. Oil shares are a tidy way to make money !

Not quite right there TVM, What we currently see in the Gulf is a classic non-shooting war !, Cyprus is the other example that springs to mind, the "Cold War" was described as such mainly for its lack of shooting, once the shots were fired it would become rather Hot. Plenty of proxy shooting wars in that time, a suprising numbe rin oil sensitive places actually.

>>the "Cold War" was described as such mainly for its lack of shooting, >>
The Cold War was won by the Americans on an economic basis - the Russians couldn't keep pace.
To its credit, America never reduced its level of wheat supplies to Russia, on the basis that its inhabitants shouldn't suffer because of its political masters.
