Clio oil filter question ? - cheddar
Having a few months ago come across two different oil filter specs and sizes for the same Focus when changing the oil for my mother-in-law, today I bought a filter from a Renault dealer for the wife's Clio, it is about 2/3 the size of every other one that has been fitted to the car though is categorically the right one according to the dealer, the spec has changed they say, it is a '98 1.6 RXE manual.

Any thoughts?

Can't remember what car it was, but I remember at least one replacement oil filter being much smaller externally than the one it replaced. It fitted in all the important places though!

HI they did change the spec on the clio oil filter. because there was two types for two engines in the clio range. i remember if you got the wrong one it would go so far up the road then it would blow the filter of. not to good for the engine. they are small filters. as long as you have give them the engine code and the other spec for the car there should not be a problem. hope this helps

Strange one this, the dealer sold me a Purflux LS218 which according to the Purflux website was replaced by the LS309 in April 2002!

A case of old stock in the Renault parts system.

They are adamant that the LS218 is right for the car however they do have the LS309 (which is what I was supplied with last year) in stock and it is slightly cheaper.
