not had a look yet car will be droped of this week. is that true that the pump goes in the auto box and then it burns out the forward clutch
Well, if pump is not up to scratch then line pressure is low and the clutch will slip and burn out in short order.
HI thanks for that i will keep that in mind im just thinking i might be better of with another box i will have a good look at it when it gets here once again thanks

Be an AD4 I would think. You are looking at £1k to recon that, plus 7 hours to take out and put back. Glutton for punishment is all I can say..
7 hours??? It'll take me a lot less than that!
You're lucky it's got to 78000. I've heard they can go pop around 30-40000...
Post 2000 'boxes much better.
HI its not gone pop just yet. thats how it goes some are good and some are bad as can be seen on this site not just renault
If you replace the g/box ensure there are no electrical faults on the vehicle as some electrical faults cause the vehicle to go into limp mode in the auto box & it drives in one gear only untill the box burns out just leaving reverse! rear light clusters are a good place to check as the brake light cuircit is linked to the box control!.
I had three replacement boxes on a renault before it was discovered that the n/s light cluster had an earthing fault causing box failiures! 2 years later a technical bulliten was produced on this known fault

HI doc thanks for that. i will check that one out. i have just got a sykes and pickavant unit on its way with the new v5 pod so i will have a look in to all the box electricals this week. could you tell that it was faulty by putting on the brake lites. like the old ford escorts when they dimmed or just with a scaner check.
