It seems from reading the Fifth Gear thread that some people can't receive ch5.
Dont despair as you may be able to receive it via a digital terrestrial decoder.
There will soon be some Free To Air decoders in the shops from Pace etc or try and get hold of an old ITV dig box.

JohnL,
If you can't get Channel 5 through your aerial you probably won't be able to get the air borne digital signals...
I live in such an area and have to subscribe to cable to get Ch 5 etc.
Local TV is from a repeater station and they have not got roung to putting up a Ch 5 transponder yet... Doubt if they will if Analogue signals cease in 2006 as per plan.

Quite - around here we have neither Ch5 nor terrestrial digital, and like you it's a local repeater station.

Here in one of Northampton's sattelite villages we have neither C5 nor digital although we are using the main x/mitter at Sandy Heath. Both C5 and digital are broadcast at substantially lower power than the big four. Being rural no cable either.
Those who advocate the early shutdown of analogue would do well to look at the move from 405 line B&W to colour. Much greater gain for the user and before the age of a telly in every room. All channells went colour c 1970, the 405 line VHF service closed in 1984.

I wouldn't worry too much - it's not as if your missing out on a great deal of quality television by not recieving Ch5 (apart from 5thG of course).
Sky Digital recieves Ch5 fine, and now includes ITV as well.

We're still steam driven - i.e. no digital. I recall that I really had to make a great fuss to get adequate service when the station opened (you'll remember that guys had to come and adjust sets). Now I wonder why I bothered, since there's so little worth looking at on that channel.
