MICRA CVT Problem - sdh
My wife runs round in a M-Reg Micra with an automatic gearbox. Now sometimes stiff to get into gear it is also making an awful grinding noise. Anybody know of a cheap repair that will get us anopther few months out of it? I will scrap it eventually but while I don't want to strand the missus I also can't afford a replacement yet. Do SLICK or people like that make an additive and does anyone know if it is any good?

MICRA CVT Problem - Jamesh266
It is probably the electromagnetic powder clutch failing which is causing difficulty putting it into gear. I believe that the carbon brushes are the only relatively easily replaceable parts of the transmission (and should be checked every fourth service), so it might be worth getting this checked by a Nissan dealer first (in my experience, independent garages are reluctant to do any work on the Nissan CVT).

Hearsay opinion is that the Micra CVT doesn't really last much past 40 or 50 thousand miles - sorry to be a doom-monger, but you should start saving for a new one.

Thanks for the reply Jamesh. It was always a long shot hoping for a quick fix.
