Hi,
I can get aftermarket pads for my Clio for about £10 give or take and genuine Renault ones for £38 give or take.
I heard that aftermarket ones tend to be softer so it might be false economy?
The genuine ones on the car will last about 36,000 miles I would say, given they have done 28k and there is about 5mm of material remaining..
Thanks

Aftermarket pads are OK provided they are correctly specified for the vehicle, of reputable make (Lockheed, Mintex, Ferodo etc) and are genuine. Obviously they must be correctly fitted.
I have not always been entirely satisfied with the performance of some French friction materials - for the Peugeot 106D I look after, Lockheed pads are the best by a mile.
