Hi all,
I have just purchased a 1995 306 xldt. The key fob(plip) does not work, i have tried changing the battery, and also re programing. Does anyone have any good ideas.
Thanks :)

Hi,
The remote key on my old 98' 306 stopped working after an MOT. The Peugeot dealer wanted at least 70 pounds to have a go at fixing it and said the bill could go up to over 400 pounds.
Finally found a ?fix? on another internet forum, which involved ?rebooting? the car. Disconnected the battery for half an hour then I could reprogram the key fob and it was fine for the next three years I kept the car.
Mine was a newer model than yours but it may do the trick.
You can check if the remote is still working by pointing it at a digital camera (or camera phone) it should show a flash on the screen.
Cheers

As it is IR remote locking you have to be precise in where you're pointing the plipper - ie at the receiver where the interior light is.
A way to check the plipper is actually working is to either point the LED at a digital camera whilst pressing the button and you should see bursts of flashing lights, or place the plipper next to a portable radio tuned to AM and you'll here pulsating noises from the speaker.

Seeing as its a 306 with IR remote locking you will most likely found the IR control unit located in the roof has got wet through the aerial rubber seal leaking.
Normal a strip down, clean up & dry out & sealing the aerial hole with silicone sealent & then refitting it will work wonders.
A lot if not all PSA stuff with this setup suffers in this way as the cars get older.

Ta for your replys
I will try the strip down and clean up. I took the key fob to peugeot today and they say its working. So fingers crossed. :)
I will let you know if i get it fixed.
Thanks
