Hi,
New to this so please bear with me. Driving up the M1 in the above car the instruments / cd player started to act up in a rather random way:
Speedo dipped then worked ok
Rev counter dipped then worked ok
CD stopped then started where it left off / at the beginning of the CD or swapped to radio or maybe showed the volume control.
Odd warning lights flicked on then off (low fuel/airbag/abs).
The odometer 'moved on' several miles and sometimes this whole readout looked as if I had just switched the ignition on - ie ran thru miles to service & oil level before coming up with the odometer and mileometer readings.
but ........ the main mileometer always reads ok & the engine / gearbox never seemed to give any trouble.
The symptoms could all appear at the same time, or a few of them or just one of them.
I gather this car has multiplex wiring & the associated electronic boxes.
Has anyone had this? or can anyone help?
Thanks in advance
Nico.

When was the last time this 307 had the software updated by a Peugeot dealer?
This 307 will be CAN - BUS, its all software driven.
How often does Windows crash on your computer? Well guess what PSA software can crash too.
Take it to the local Peugeot main dealer with ALL the keys & the blue security code card & get the BSI software updated, should take less then 1 hour.

Thanks for that. As you mentioned PC software, I tried the equivalent of switching it off & on again by disconnecting the battery, leaving it for 20 mins & then reconnecting it. The problem only manifested itself yesterday so I don't know if it was just a glitch. Anyway thanks again for the suggestion - I'll get it booked in if it does it again.

Disconnecting battery for a few minutes & then reconnecting it reboots the systems, You might be lucky but if its running old software it would be a very good idea at the next service to get the latest BSI / ECU / autobox ECU downloads from the main dealer.

Thanks,
I'll book it in in the new year. Is it the sort of problem that could be caused by an external source? - radio transmitters or something.
Thanks again

Not really unless the military zap you with a dodgy / faulty radar station.
The car electric's are pretty well shield against outside sources of interference.
Its more down to bugs in the software, older software was troublesome at times.
No rush to book it in, next service will do if its alright now after the reboot.
