a relatives vectra failed the emissions test the readings were fast idle test co =0.68 fail also second test co=0.77.
we changed the lambda sensor ,oil,all filters and plugs.
the cats not that old (less than a year)
what now?are them universal cats any good?
would additives make any difference or are these figures too high for additives or an itailian tune up.

its a p reg 96 with 90000 on the clock.

Redex + some quality fuel from Shell VPower / Texaco ? (not sold in Scotland) / BP Ultimate and an Italian Tune up did it for a neighbour with similar problems.

i will give it a try,the trouble is at £15 a retest i dont want to fail.

failed told i could be a computer problem sounds expensive i am glad its not my car.

What was the lambda reading ? might give some clue as to whether it's a mixture control problem or someting else.

for lambda its got a funny symbol and the print out a assume thats it.
it passed lambda test with 1.025 and 1.018

on our citroen piccasso diesel taxi our emissions failed so we took it to the main dealer and they found that the air filter was the cause of the emissions failing the test so we now leave out the air filter just for the test and put it back in afterwards!

after last years mot the cambelt was changed .
is it possible the timmings out and overfueling to give these high readings.

found out some of the pipes towarsds the back of the engine are fitted wrong.
i think they are breathers or vacumm pipes.
allso got a fault code 0230 which is fuel pump.
is there a diagram that i could get so i could trace the pipes?
the haynes manual isnt all that clear.
