The speedo on my Pug 305 has broken, and I'm having difficulty finding a secondhand unit. In the meantime I'm judging my speed using the rev. counter. (approx. 20MPH per 1000 revs in 5th, I think..) can anyone tell me the correct MPH per 1000 Revs. in 4th. and 5th. gear? I can then mark the counter face and stay within the speed limits!
Any help gratefully received.

Buy a Gps they have a speedo fuction far more accurate than any car speedo

A bit expensive? Like using a laser device when a tape measure would do?

It's a bit more than 20mph/1000rpm in fifth, but if you allow that in 4th (which is what you'll be in most of the time where 30/40 limits are concerned) you should be safe. I'm assuming your 305 is geared like ours, which is a 1600. I'll make a more careful note next time my GF lets me use it...

Actually, your guess was better than mine. 5th appears to be about 21mph/1000rpm with 4th quite a bit lower (16/1000-ish). Of course, I've no idea how accurate the speedo is...

James,
Thanks for the info, I think I can stay legal using that conversion of revs. to MPH.
