Vectra key fob how to program please - redcats
Hi guys got a Vectra V6 with a chipped key, got car and immobiliser worked with one key but not with other key,it had no battery in so got a couple of new batteries and put them into both keys ( what a mistake ) now neither key works the immobilser ,but still works the ignition, tried the re-programming turning the ignition on and press the lock or unlock on the key fob but nothing happens, didn't get a Vauxhall car pass with it, so any ideas on how to program key fob

now neither key works the immobilser ,

So are you saying that the car won't start, and that the ECU light is flashing, indicating an imobiliser fault?

The little chip in the keyfobs didn't fall out when you changed the batts did it?

no the car starts and runs fine ,just can't lock it cos when I unlock it the alarm goes off till I put the key in the ignition, when I press the buttons on the key fob the little red light doesn't come on , so I asssume the chip is still with the key or the ignition wouldn't work because both keys start the car ok

Assuming you have the radio code you could try and disconnect the battery for a few minutes.

If it's the same as the Omega and Zafira then it's a matter of unlocking the driver's door, turn the ignition on and then press the 'blipper' for a few seconds; this should cause the central locking to cycle lock - unlock, and/or the courtesy light to flash, indicating the blipper is re-synchronised to the car. Sorry to be slightly vague but the method is slightly different between cars. It will be in the user manual though.

Spamcan, he's already tried the re-sycn method and it didn't work.

Good suggestion, re: disconnecting the battery. The other trick is to find the C/L module and disconnect that for a few seconds. Disconnecting the battery though *should* do the same trick.

Note to self....engage brain before posting.

The only other possibility I can think of is that the spare remote was duff to start with, and the previously working remote has died due to battery replacement. If the Vectra blipper is like the Zafira's the battery holder is connected to the PCB by tiny little clips which are very easy to break, which then results in the battery parting company with the PCB. I managed to fix SWMBO's by sandwidching a piece of rubber band between the battery & the case to increase the pressure on the contacts.

seem to have a good connection in the fob a couple of small peices of card helping to make sure ,just worried if I take the battery connection off if it will make things worse because at the min I can drive it,and when it resets I might not be able to. I thought that even if the fob isn't working to the car the little red lights would work on the fob,but it doesn't

If the fob LED isn't working, then the fob itself isn't working. The LED is there to inform you of battery condition, so something is amiss inside the fob.

This car has a transponder immobiliser, The remote part of the keyfob & the battery wont stop the engine starting.

As long as the small black transponder chip is inside the key then the immobiliser will disarm when the ignition is turned on.

it does disarm but when i unlock the car the alarm goes off till i get the key turned

Yep, that's supposed to happen. Without going into too much detail, it a thief were to overcome the dealocks on an older Vauxhall, it also turned off the alarm. Vauxhall changed it so that the alarm could only be turned off by the correct key (and transponder chip) being put into the ignition.

Until you get your fob fixed, you could for now lock the car by reaching though from the rear offside door and pressing the button down on the drivers door and then closing the rear door afterwards. The downside to this is that the deadlocks and alarm won't be set, but at least the alarm won't sound when you unlock the drivers door and open it.
