My timing belt is due to be replaced in 10,000 miles and about to travel from the midlands to norfolk
Theres no oil contamination on the belt
Ive got no time to change the belt
Is it worth the risk

XUD or HDi?

The timing mechanism on these is quite robust as far as I know. I'd say you'll be OK.
|
Thanks for that. Its the executive and a great car so wouldnt like risk breaking it
|
Stopping, starting, and changing engine speeds are the most stressful for a belt too, so a constant motorway cruise shouldn't present any problems.

What milage is it on? I had mine changed at 82k and it still looked brand new.
|
Its on 134,000 and due at 144000 (Last changed at 72,000)
|
It's best to do them at 40,000 miles or 4 years, which ever comes first in my opinion, but yours has done OK before, so just don't worry about it too much, ansd change it when you can.

Not at 320 quid a pop it isn't, especially when it'll do over 80k with no problems.
