Go to the car-by-car breakdown section, link in the box under the photo of HJ, and search for your car. I looked and it was way too big to cut and paste and there was good and bad to report on it as you would expect - it is a French car after all!

Wife got a clio at 6 months old in 2000;
To date, the only items outside servicing items is a new seat belt switch, and a new air filter housing (the old one split)
The sun roof rattles, all clio sun roofs rattle.
Excelent value for money second hand. make sure the belt and water pump get changed every 4 years.

The Clio seems to be a durable car. I would save up and get one of the MK3's. Much better built, bigger and more refined.

Wife got a Clio at 2.5 years old in 2001, an early MkII, only 4k, now 40k.
To date the only item outside servicing items is a power steering pressure switch (it leaked though worked fine) at £40.
The sun roof rattles when tilted open though fine when fully open or closed.
The alarm can go off of it's own accord, we have mastered it now though.
Renault say belt 5y/50000, we had ours done on the dot at 5 years though only 18000, I think the water pump depends on engine type.
Ours still drives brilliantly, OK a Fiesta has a crisper turn in though the Clio is fun to drive with a great ride, very compliant suspension with no sign of any clonks.
Aside from a fair few dinks courtesy of Tesco car parks the bodywork has held up well and is totally rust free.

Recently bought an 05 1.2 clio for under 5k.
Most used clios are way over-priced - it's possible to buy a new Clio II (Campus) for around 6k (probably 7K by the time you've got the spec you want).

SWMBO has had one from new since 2002. It has was faultless for the first 3.5 years, then developed a niggle that was sorted for around £100 at a renault specialist (not dealer), it was a sensor problem which meant the car cut out every now and again. 2 new tyres, new discs/pads thats it.
£300 in repairs/replacing wornout parts in 4.5 years aint bad.
Its now got 40k on the clock and soon to be traded for a Mini Cooper
