This is my first post on here!
My 1999 Isuzu engined astra diesel started spouting oil from the camshaft seal. I bought a genuine GM seal and new timing belt and fitted both, temporarily leaving off the t/belt covers to check all was ok. It was initially then oil started leaking from the new gasket again, ruining the new timing belt. When running it looks like the camshaft has some movement in it causing the seal to stretch and compress leading to leakage. Has anyone heard of this? Can you replace the cam bearings if they are knackered? Any help very gratefully recieved.
Many Thanks, Stuart

I did read it but thought other more familiar with the model would reply. The camshaft should not move and if it moves enough to pull the seal out of shape when it if badley worn and may even be effecting the valve clearances. I do not know if that engine has a shelled cam shaft or not. I would imagine so. Regards Peter
