I doubt it - it is probably a best guess - does anyone have accurate stats for China for instance, that would have a profound effect on the credibility of the figures.

ISTR reading in the last week or so that 100,000 a year in China a lot due to the increasing affluence and no one bothering with driving instruction or tests.

UK deaths are low, and staying low.
These figures are being bandied around in the uk to batter us over the head about road safety *AGAIN* And hence greater regulation of the motorist.

agree. exactly as i see it. it is the usual tactic of pressure lobbies using overstated and/or unprovable guesses to make their point. they risk losing support for their cause from those with any brains, but gain publicity via lazy journos who can't see that they are being spoon-fed with rubbish.
