A mate has offered to lend me his MINI cabio for a few days, as his back hurts, so he is driving his Mondeo. I was thinking...I fancy a small, cheap four seat convertible.
Apart from a 2CV and an old Beetle or even an old Golf cabrio, what else (please no Escorts or Astras, I would prefer some style and less car)?

I think calling the 206CC a four seater is a joke, even a no leg'd midget would find it tight for leg room in the back.
Plus i really cannot see espada driving one - he's no way near camp enough!

I saw an immacualte 205 Cabriolet yesterday, 'J' reg in green metallic and light coloured leather interior. Obviously a summer car as it was so perfect.

That was a Roland Garros limited edition - I had a look at one several years ago, but it was full of water. 205 hoods often need replacing by the age they are now. I did take 4 adults in mine, but the rear seat is pretty windswept with the roof down!

M-i-L has one of the last Golf Cabrios - it's a nice car but not sure I could recommend it. Very drab inside and has a lot of scuttle shake when you drive it.
If you like driving enthusiastically, I reckon you'd be a lot better off with a two seater along the lines of a MX5 rather than a chopped compact.

Thats becuase it's actually a Mk3 Golf Cabrio with a Mk4 front end - even the interior is Mk3 Golf.

A lady friend of mine had so called Mk4 Golf cabrio. Total dog, more time in dealership than with her over about 6 mths - luckily she is a partner at a large solicitors so had no trouble rejecting it and getting a full refund which she put towards Mitsubishi 4wd.

If anyone fancies a 205 Roland Garros convertible i know where there is one going very cheap, it does need a few bits and bobs doing but it would still be a cheap car.
Its even had a new hood fitted fairly recently.
