Hi Guys,
I have a 96 fiesta with the Endura 'E' engine which recently has decided to start cutting out. This only seems to occur when decellerating or if you rev the engine say over 3000 revs and drop off quickly. It feels like it's not getting enough fuel, checked the spark plugs, they look ok. It's had a new fuel filter, air filter, took off all the air sensors and throttle body and cleaned yet the problem still persists. I think its come to the point of having to spend some cash but where do I start??

check all electrical connections for good fit,
Disconect the idle air control valve electrical fitting with IGNITION OFF now turn ignition to on and check the voltage on the wiring plug from pin 1 TO EARTH (on the left as you look on it from the front with the nibs pointing upwards) you should have full battery voltage here.
If not check all fuses the wiring and any relays,if okay then take the valve off and give it a good clean with brake cleaner.

All the wiring seems ok, voltage checked, valve cleaned. Still cutting out. While I had the cleaning fluid out I've also checked around for any air leaks ( just in case ).

Update:
Well she seems to be getting worse, the car seems to have slowed on the idle and is now becoming harder to keep running.
Oldman, do you think it could be the idle control valve? maybe sticking or worn? I have cleaned it thoroughly and it seems to be worse now.

A clogged crankcase breather hose and oil filler cap can often cause idle issues, this is something i have to clean out regularly on my 94 fiesta 1.1 HCS. I assume the 1.3 endura engine is quite similar.
You can get a brand new filler cap for around 3 quid from halfords (its easier than trying to clean it out!) and the hose can be cleaned out with a pipe cleaner and a bit of carb cleaner.

sorry Jhonny.b been busy , if you have cleaned the idle air control valve at the front as i described earlier with no effect my next course of action would be to change it for a good s/h one i cleaned one of these only yesterday and it cured your exact problem.
i did blow the pipe through from the filler cap as well though as DozyG has quite rightly said and this will help as well if blocked

In this order based on experience I would try:
Throttle position sensor (When I had to disconnect this the car would run but we had to use a zip tie to provide some sort of tickover) Same engine as yours.
Lamda sensor

Thanks for the reply's!
Oldman - I tried cleaning the idle control valve again, but still no difference. While tracking down a new front seat I found an Endura E engine in a local scrap yard which I was assured was a good runner when it came in, so I purchased the idle control valve (£10!), fitted it and HEY PRESTO!!! runs like a dream.
Again, thank you all for your input.
Cheers
Steve
