My journey from work up the motorway has been made tolerable by the Company of Johnnie Walker for the past few years.

So what's the opinion of tonight's show with the replacement presenter?

For what it's worth, I wasn't impressed, local radio here I come.

I don't drink when I'm driving - the Black Label is the better of the 2 however.

I think yours Johnny Walker!

And Gold and Blue Label are even better still ....

Evans is simply not Radio 2 material, far too tabloidesque. I'm a celebrety would be more his style. I listened on and off tonight and hated it. He ruined a good business report on the Peugeot closure with a lightweight response, whereas I am sure JW would have probed the business reporter a bit more about the problems in the car industry in general.

The music was cack, too.

Not the ginger twit again. I can't stand it. Hasn't anyone ever heard of anyone worth rabbiting about?

I used to like him on Virgin in the mornings when I worked in London, 5Live is my thing now so I must have of matured, but so then should have Mr Evans, might give it a go, what time?
Driving Home - local yokel
Evans is on from 5 pm until 7 pm on R2

I guess the advantage of doing a late afternoon show is that he has plenty of time to recover from the excesses of the previous night.

He used to be on GLR when I was living in London in the early 90s.
He was an irritating git then ...

I thought I'd give him a week, but I didn't last that long. Three times I tuned to R2 on the way home last night and three times I tuned out again - I just find the sound of his style of presenting immensely irritating

With Wogan, and others, it's all about "Look outside, it's a funny old world, and I'm here to show you round the funniest bits" - if you listen carefully there's very little about them.

With Evans it's all about "Look at me, I'm the only funny one, and whether you like it or not I'm going to ram my fun down your lugholes" If you listen carefully he might just mention a mate of his, who is also very funny, in Evans' opinion.

JW increased the shows listeners by 2 million in the seven years he was on. I give ginger two months to lose them all again.

Maybe its about the changing of the guard ie those of us (me included)having to accept middle age. I would never have even thought about listening to Radio 2 - its what my Mum listened to. Now I find that I cant tolerate the commercial stations which seem to overload the commercials during the rush hour periods.
Without the likes of Jonathan Ross and to a lesser extent Chris Evans I wouldnt have been persuaded to try the station. I'm even starting to listen to Wogan ! Jeez I cant believe I admitted that :-)
