AS some of you know i work out in Sudan, last week my Hilux p/u became sick
No power & smoking chnaged fuel filter slightly better but not much
I told my driver to take it to the toyota main dealer in Port Sudan 3 hours drive away
I've just recived the bill/
Fuel tank removed & cleaned
All fuel lines removed & cleaned 1 replaced
1 new fuel filter
Fuel pump timing checked
New air filter
Total cost as far as i can work out about 50 quid!
I'm very annoyed as i did not ask them to check fuel pump timing.. tut tut whatever next
Oh yes runs as good as new now too!

Yes mm, it's the outrageous salaries they have to pay the mechanics, and the rent and other overheads... bit of sand in the small holes I suppose.
Set foot in Port Sudan when I was 10, 1949 I suppose. Very hot, sand and railway lines, glass-bottomed boat to see the coral and that was about it. Much more recently, at a three-hour stopover at Khartoum airport, had no local cash to buy a coffee or beer. Asked some expatriates to sell me a couple of quid's worth of the local paper and they just gave me some saying: Here you are, it might as well be toilet paper for all it's worth, just take it, not worth the time to work out how much it's worth in real money, etc etc. But perhaps the Sudanese quid is worth a bit more now the oil is flowing?
