The saga of buying a new car took me into an Alfa dealer on spec. Apparantly 156 Sportwagons are now virtually unavailable new (!!!!) and this means that nearly new ones are costing at least the same as new.
Didn't really like it anyway so it's all a bit academic, but some guys really do try it on.

Even if this were true, the obvious answer would be not to bother with an Alfa Sportwagon and go for something else.

Strange been to Alfa Specialist today who had 2 new Sportwagons ??
Trade sales usually have a few.
A few porkies being told i think !
Out of interest what did you not like ?

First it is true HJ, I was there....
Second, I didn't like the driving position. I have an arthritic condition - ankylosing spondolytis if you must know - and some seats are a real problem to me. The other thing I was really unsure about was the lack of space but this is a problem with many of the "lifestyle" estates.
Call me a philistine if you like but the Alfa engine seems to have lost a bit of soul in the endless quest for emissions figures as well.
