Iam led to believe A2 cannot receive an aftermarket towbar.Supposedly this due to alloy chassis and steel towbar causing electrolisis.
Anyone disagree with this I fancy A2 but need trailer provision

For vehicles built since '98 all towbars have to be type approved for the specific application. A few cars simply aren't homologated for towing by their manufacturer - for these no towbar can be type approved.
The reasons why a vehicle isn't homologated are various - eg some BMW models running lowered sports suspension aren't, even though the same models on normal suspension are.
If the A2 hasn't been homologated for towing, it would be illegal to do so - there are so few such models the plod would soon spot you!
If you need trailer provision you may need to look elsewhere.

Why not ask Audi or Bosal or Witter etc for a difinitive answer.

Bungalow - the A2 has TUV type approval for towing, but as you have correctly stated the towbar fitted must be of a standard which doesn't cause problems with the aluminium spaceframe of the A2. Audi fit towbar is about £500.
See www.a2forum.net/forum to see if anyone has fitted an aftermarket towbar.

The Renault Clio 182 can not be fitted with a tow bar or carry a normal spare wheel.
The exhaust seems to occupy most of the area under the boot floor!
