Does anyone know the likely cause of an intermittent fault with this vehicles immobiliser system?? I tohught it was a battery fault so fitted a new one. Could the transponder in the key be a cause??

Thanks for the prompt reply 'oldman' I 've just thought of that one earlier this evening and swapped the keys - it's the wife's car and I don't want the car to breakdown on her somewhere remote.
