Summer Toy Update - Kevin

Well folks, I think I've found the summer toy.

It's an incredibly tasteless '76 Caddy Eldorado Convertible. Original 8.2L motor and all electrics working. Owner is asking £4.5K but will no doubt come down a bit. I hope to check it out this weekend.

Only problem is that there's no way the thing will fit in my garage. So.... I'm gonna have to see if I can find a rental unit nearby.

Beautiful car (IMO) and a beautiful engine. There aren't many engines that can match that lovely rumble of the 500 cu in Caddy V8 (the largest ever production car engine don'tcha know).

Have fun with it - plenty of useful contacts and info at www.american-auto-club.co.uk/ should you need them. 4.5k sounds a little dear but very dependent on condition and if you do think it's over the top, ask these guys!

Just for a laugh, work out the fuel consumption - I've got a feeling Caddy Eldorados have a 100 litre fuel tank so that's a fair wack to fill up at the pumps :o) Still, don't let that ruin your pleasure...

Have fun

Congratulations on your purchase, make sure when you fill it up at the petrol station the engine is swithched off as the forecourt pump will never keep up with the engine's idling speed consumption of petrol ;-)

Absolutely, not tasteless at all, a PROPER car!
Re: Summer Toy Update - Andy Bairsto
If this car is in mint condition its worth 20000ukps plus ,The killer is rust and finding body parts at a cheap price .Mike and Franks in Köln Germany are the biggest importer of parts in Europe and can normally source anything and I mean anything given time.I would go through it with a fine tooth comb look for rust ,rust ,rust ,rust and more rust.DDo not forget if it fails an uk mot on front suspension you could be looking at 4000ups to replace.I have an old corvette and believe you me its one of the easiest to work on and get parts for a much better bet than a Caddie. Also look at www.honestjohn.com

[Sorry to edit your post, Andy. I ought to make clear that the above internet address is NOT a misprint. HJ.com is a Cadillac dealer in Texas. Martyn, BRM]
