Has anyone any thoughts on a 1.6 Mazda MX5 which occasionally misfires when restarted from hot and will not clear until a few miles have passed and then runs normally. It is fine from cold.
I imagine it will have cooked the "cat".
Thanks

My son had a bit of a missfire on his.(1998 1,6). He replaced the HT leads and the missfire disapeared. There is more on this forum about it if you do a forum search (right under where you log in / out). Apparently the advice is to replace them after about 30k miles, his had 36k on it.

I had a similar problem, advice given on this forum was to replace the HT leads, which was 100% correct. New set cost around £20 from MX5 parts, who give very good service.

We have had excellent service from MX5 parts as well, right parts, good delivery. The HT leads were bought a couple of weeks ago. Ordered Tuesday evening, arrived Thursday post (£24.99 I think)

Hi,
the most common cause of misfire on the MX5 is faulty OEM plug leads you will find loads of help at www.mx5ocforum.co.uk
