406 LX 1.8 estate. When I try and start the car cold with no throttle it fires and dies, the same happens when I use a little throttle. When it eventually does start and try to accelerate it also stalls. I have to leave the car running for a minute before pulling away otherwiae the engine stalls. The car runs fine when warm. Any ideas?

Sounds to me like dampness causing tracking / shorting somewhere in the electrics, probably on your plug leads. When the car finally starts, the heat dries off the moisture and the car runs OK.
Try starting it in the dark one morning and look under the bonnet for sparks around the electrics. If any are spotted , replace relevant part.
In the meantime, a good spray of WD 40 usually works wonders.
