The hotel website says:
"There is on-street parking surrounding the hotel and a multi-storey car park nearby on Charlotte Street"

On-street is very short term and very expensive - you may have difficulty even finding a gap to drop off. The Charlotte Street carpark (not a multi-storey) is only a few minutes walk away - but it will be very busy this Saturday so you may have to be patient in waiting for a space to come free.
An alternative is to take the park'n'ride from Lansdown (near the Race course) which now drops you off in Milsom Street and then retrieve the car to Charlotte Street in the early evening - cheaper, and probably more convenient for arrival, but might interfere with the consumption of the mulled wine and market atmosphere.

Enjoy your stay!

I parked in the one under the Hilton Hotel for a few days and there were plenty of spaces. Mind you there was a discount for hotel guests.

Easy place to park in Bath? No, none of that. You are a braver person than me, I try and avoid the damn place and this close to Christmas it is likely to be worse than usual.

I suggest you read this thread, at least you journey into the city will be relatively painless. Do not use the A4/London road, unless you like sitting in huge queues.

Best of luck,

The last time I tried to get into Bath near Christmas, the queues started 8 ml. away!

Right - busiest street in the busiest city in England at the busiest time of year!

So firstly if you are coming via M4, this may be useful

;Exit J.18 onto A46 but don't follow this all the way into Bath (queue will be horrendus(sp) near Bath) -
so after exiting at J.18 follow A46 for just 2 miles and look out for a right turn - just past a stone built tea shop that will have parked cars outside, can't remember what the road is signposted for, probably Lansdown, or Wick, but it is a main turning with a turning lane in the centre of the road. Follow this road to the end, and you will reach a T-junction with the A420. Turn RIGHT and IMMEDIATELY left (More or less a staggered crossroads). Follow this road to the end, after approx 2 miles you come to another T-junction....turn LEFT towards Bath / Landsdown / Bath Racecourse.
Follow this road past Bath racecourse, continue past Blaythwaite Arms on right, past the Park and Ride (mentioned elsewhere)continue until road ends at juction - TURN RIGHT down steep hill and follow this hill until you reach the traffic lights at the bottom (you are right in the centre now). TURN RIGHT at lights * -into George Street - and 1st LEFT into Milsom Street.
I think (not sure) hotel is on left, if you pass it and can't stop/park keep turning left and you will come around again to it. Milsom St is very busy with Permit/pay parking so if you can stop anywhere to unload/enen on double yellow lines do so, and move you car immediately.

Charlotte Street pay & display is the biggest/nearest/ car park.

If you don't want to pay, parking on the roads that run through Royal Victoria Park - far end - is free, but need to cruise for a space. You could risk it and park in Sainsburys (behind Green Park Station on map)during the day. Or try to park in the underground car park next to Waitrose (P6 on map)

to reach Charlotte St C/Park from hotel - continue down Milsom Street follow the road around to the left (can only go one way), keeping to the left as the traffic goes into 2 queues for the T/Lights (opposite The Podium Centre), Turn LEFT and as you pass Waitrose keep Left into Broad Street and up the narrow road back to lights where you arrived (* above ) so left into George street, go past Milsom Street, follow road around to the left into Queens Square. Drive around 3 sides of thw Square and exit the square left into Charlotte st.- Car Park on right.

Good Luck

Or take the train

If you want a nice restaurant (there are loads) but one I can recommend within a couple of minutes is "The Moon and Sixpence" in Broad Street (see above)
Entrance is through an alleyway into nice courtyard

Bath resident here!

Are you selling? If so do you have a van?

Charlotte St best option, if you can get a space. Otherwise, Victoria Park or just beyond is Weston Lane which has unrestricted parking. Easy to walk through Vicky Park and along Monmouth St to Queens Square and town.

Sainsbury's not a good plan, there are two attendants most days and they do enforce the rules.

Variation to getting into town from M4. Follow directions as posted elsewhere until the Blathwayt Arms, then turn right, and descend very steep hill into Weston village. Through Weston Village High St, left at the end and this road turns into Weston Lane. At the mini roundabout, you are at the top left corner of Vicky Park, start looking for spaces.

If you're not in a van and just need to get yourselves in town, the Park and Ride is a good idea, pick of three sites, but don't work Sunday. Better idea is to park in the Moorland Road area. It's 15 minutes level walk from Sainsburys. I live up the hill from there and can be in town in 25 minutes on foot.

As you're staying overnight, if you like proper beer, i can recommend the New Inn on Monmouth St, just round the corner from Queens Square. Wadworth pub, cracking beer, bit smokey, but no music or kids. Excellent Gammon.

HTH

BTW, thanks for reminding me that the Christmas Market is on, we'll walk down.

As suggested elsewhere, Charlotte Street is nearest and from memory has security cameras, but it is next to Victoria Park which means an easy escape route for car radio thieves etc. Do not be tempted to use the free end of Victoria Park as this is bad enough during the day but it is a haven for car thieves overnight. Plenty of piles of broken glass by the pavement!! Also mindless vandalism such as smashed windscreens. I don't recall any security cameras in the park'n'ride car parks in Bath (unlike Bristol) just the odd security patrol when they are open. Overnight they will just be locked up and are fairly remote.

I work in Bath and.... I have a parking permit!! ...still not easy to find a space though!

I think that some parking restrictions don't apply on Sundays so you might be able to park on-street for free then, but not Saturday. The little signs describing what sort of zone you're in are very confusing. You can't pay and display in a permit zone or vice-versa.

I travelled to Bath some weeks ago on a Saturday and it took approx. 1 1/2 hrs to get into the city, then could not find anywhere to park till about 6.00pm.

I've been advised to travel to Bath by train or coach in future and then you can enjoy more of your time viewing the City shops and Market.

More so now, its closer to Xmas.

Good Luck
