Spilt Millers Diesel Extra - BobbyG
I now have a really strong pungent smell in my Saxo as my bottle of Millers Diesel Extra stuff has been leaking in my boot.
It has soaked through the boot lining into the insulation type layer underneath.
Is there any point in me trying to clean this out / dry this off or should I just bin it and put an old carpet in? Is the smell ever going to go away?

Anyone else been so stupid? I don't want to fill the car with air freshners all the time to cancel the smell, although maybe neutradol would do it?

I'd get it off the paint ASAP. Doubt it will come out the carpet though.

Surely you could wash the carpet, maybe soak it in the bath in a strong detergent? However if your household is anything like mine, I would ask permission first!

Try some aerosol foam upholstery cleaner from any carshop, this should break it down and get it out of the carpet.

The carpet bit that is saturated is the boot lining, I am sure its a cross between foam and that stuff you get for lining the loft!

I might give the upholstery cleaner a try as I have some of that anyway. I have cleaned the metalwork at the base of my boot. Even applied a layer of wax - imagine polishing the base of your boot - I really need to get out more!

cut the wilton out under the sofa and put that in the boot, if its anything like my front room (we never use it) no one will know for years. :)

Take it out and jetwash it, scrub some upholstory cleaning in and jetwash it again. If this doesn't work, throw it away and put some carpet in.

Contact Millers for their advice they're a small company that I suspect wouold do what they could to advise and if you mentioned that you sought advice here they'd be interested, I happen to know they rate this site very highly
