When you use the heater on my wife's Mk1 Punto (no A/C) we get a light film deposited on the inside of the windows. I am wondering whether the heater matrix has a small leak. There is no noticable loss of coolant. Years ago I had one leak and that emitted a cloud of 'steam' when it was used - this hasn't reached those proportions - yet!

Question is, can anyone think of another cause? Getting at the matrix to check it is a major facia out job, so one to be avoided if possible. I was thinking of trying some Rad Weld or similar first - any recommendations?

It's probably just condensation, warm air hitting cold glass.

if its still steaming up take your car to a good independant garage or a radiator recoring business and ask them to do a pressure test on you water system this will verify whether or not you have a leak,bear in mind its a 6 hour job (alledgedly) to change the marrix on a mk1 as the dash has to come out .

Reading the Haynes manual I can believe it would take 6 hours - probably quicker the second time though!
